frozen mech advance help

    12lives Control the controllable, let the rest go

    I've got a buick HEI with a frozen mechanical advance. It will move, but it takes considerable pressure and will not snap back like it should. Can it be taken apart and freed up? If so, how?

    Bill, you'll probably need to yank the dist. out and pop off the gear so you can work the shaft out and lube everything up. Seems to happen alot on 455s.....:Do No:

    just went throught this

    I just went throught this with my converted pionts distributor.

    Pulled it out took it apart cleaned and polished everything
    put it back in and everything was good.


    took me about an hour
