I got the inspiration to put front speakers in the dash. well after much thought and seeing what others have done and giving credit to some great ideas. here are two links with what they have done. http://members.shaw.ca/ritc1/speaker.html https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6aJNPHqK0U#t=31 starts at 8:28 Here are my results enjoy the pic's
these are handy. under 3 inches thick. http://www.ebay.com/itm/CUSTOM-AUTO...40W-/281622250514?hash=item4191fe8412&vxp=mtr
I also considered this type of speaker but would this fit under the dash correctly and how would you mount it using the stock location?
for mounting studs brazed to flatmetal "landings", body panel adhesive works well for attaching to the underside metal of a dash pad. if speakers are a little too thick against a plastic duct, heat the duct some with a heat gun and press down enough to clear speaker. place a small piece of weatherstrip between speaker and duct when installing to keep duct from vibrating against speaker magnet if needed.
I went to custom audio sounds website .if you look under radios for skylark they list accessories. one is a dual speaker for the front which comes with a bracket that uses the mounting stud from original speaker. comes with leads. the other are speakers for kick panels both sound great. with the dash speaker i really didn't need the kick panels. but i had a four speaker radio cassette so i used them . cost of dash speaker wasn't that much compared to trying to build something.
They may look big but not really they fit under perfectly and clears the A/C duct. here is a pic mounted but not totally finished but I did put the duct and it clear's .
www.classiccarstereos.com speakers- buick part #2010 [no pic] 40watt w/bracket $40.00 or 60 watt $60.00 custom autosound doesn't sell direct. dual speakers mounted on fibre board slides over dash bracket dash side and then bracket goes over original speaker stud with one nut. 10 minute job if radio is out.
Wanna put high end 4x10 Bose/ Pyle driver in my A/C Front dash 72 GS. will they fit? Custom sound Great company. but want top shelve!
Pyle brand is about bottom of the barrel like boss audio bose is top of home audio, but way better options for $$ in car audio if you want something top self it isnt going to be a coaxial 4x10 oval speakers simply suck
These would be very good speakers to use with this dual mod http://store.12velectronics.com/mirus-m41-2-4-coaxial-speaker-set/
just finished with speaker setup and hidden radio setup. the speakers sound fine, happy with the way it turned out it fills out the sound in the front. sure i could of bought more expensive speakers or pre-made but i ventured on this little project, which it was.
