Looking to replace my front shocks this year for my 68 GS. It has a 455 in it now. I'll have to check closely but probably just has the stock shocks in now. I've heard Calvert, KOnis, Lakewood, etc. thrown around. What's a good front shock for a street and strip application? Mostly street use though. Thanks Matt
I don't want to skimp but I also don't have extra 100 dollar bills laying around either. That's my next life.
Vikings are the best all around shock for the money. Double adjustable for the same price as everyone else is single adjustable.
These work for chevelle but they say they don't have them for 68 Buick GS. Should be identical? http://cart.bilsteinus.com/productsearch/24-131506
KYB - all around excellent choice! KYB KG4513 Gas-A-Just (Rebate/Promotion Available!) $30 @ Rockauto $33 at amazon w/prime
A couple of these for the rear; https://www.summitracing.com/parts/gab-81492/overview/year/1969/make/buick/model/gs-400 And a couple of these for the front and down the road; https://www.summitracing.com/parts/gab-81494/overview/year/1969/make/buick/model/gs-400 Nothing fancy but being gas charged instead of oil charged, they will ride 150% better than the oil charged shocks that came from the factory all those many years ago. Shop around and maybe you can find some for even less. GL
I appreciate all the recommendations. Since I only race three times a year with this car, I'm going to put the focus on street shocks. Gas shocks seem to be a good way to go.
Bilsteins may cost a little more but they will be the last shocks you will have to buy. I have had them on three cars and one truck and they never wore out on any vehicle. I put 229,000 miles on the set on my truck and they still worked great when I sold it.
Ended up with KYB. There's a rebate through the end of this month. Wanted a street and strip shock, not just a racing shock. I'm happy with them so far.
