Im trying to remove the front light monitors on the '73 Electra and it seems all they are is wires from the headlights to the fender top indicators and into the wiring harness. The harness goes with the 4-note horn wire and back to the firewall to a connector but it doesn't look like it can be disconnected. I looked it up in the service manual but it doesn't have any directions for removal and replacement of it. I'm not sure what to remove? Do I need the speedo plate too because that has the slit for the interior light that matches the fendertop lights? :Do No: Thanks in advance. :TU:

They are fiber optic Rob, so they go straight from the light source to the indicators. I believe the indicator housing is held on by one or two nuts that you would have to reach underneath the fender to get to. The optic cables probably are attatched to the housing somewhat.

Rob, like Zach said. Be careful not to bend those fiber optic cables. I marked the 3 cables with a piece of tape to know where to put them back. You can easily pry the cables out of that piece of "rubber"

There isn't any electrical connection between the lights and fender top monitors. The fiber optic strands conduct light, and are also used to light the wiper and headlight switch labels in the dash panels

Got two out of the headlight sockets today but I couldn't get the fendertop indicator out. I already removed 1 nut and it seems only the wires are holding it on the fender. ???????????????????????? :Do No:

Today I will make a few photos of it (it says more than a thousand words) There should be 2 nuts and between the fender and the chrome monitor a gasket.....

There are two studs holding the chrome housings in place, so keep trying to locate them. Be careful when re-installing them, because the studs break off very easily.
