Can any one tell me if it is possible to change out the rope seal on the front cover for the new TA silicon seal#TA 1514 and still leave the cover in place? ie-remove the harmonic balancer... peel out the old seal and slide( ok ,hammer in to place ) install the new seal with out pulling the front cover and ( groan ) all the acessories? I have not got the luxury of tearing down the front cover in the near future.

Is there any other seal or method to prevent the slight leakage that the front seal gives when the engine is turned off. I know the crank nose is in excellent condition and the leakage is the seal and not the surface of the crank.

    Thank you for your input,

I think you will have a leak until you have time to remove the cover. :(

Only if you have the TA repro cover on the engine. For original covers the cover must come off to change the seal.
