Well it is time to install the front end on my  68 GS.
I started with the drivers front fender, and it looks like quite a challenge.
Is there a good or proper sequence for installing these fenders.
Seems like if my gap looks correct, 3/16", then my door hits the fender when I open and close it.
I suppose this is trial and error.
Is it possible to have the door not inboard far enough on the door hinges, to cause this ????
I am cleaning up all the shims now, matter of fact it looks like I need to add more than what it came off with...
Any suggestions sure would be appreciated.
    Thanks ahead.

Are you using the same shims in the same locations as before? Shims on top and bottom will stretch the fender taller, sucking in the side of the fender slightly. Try with no shims first and it will bow the fender out at the sides giving more clearance. Also, use heavy tape doubled or tripled up on the edges between the door and fender to avoid damage. You can slide the radiator support from side to side to gain some clearance on the door gaps too.

    Fred,
First you will need to make sure the core support is centered with the body. Make a diagonal measurement from fixed points on the cowl to points on the core support. This will square up the core support and make attaching the fenders easier.
Reynold's answer is correct about shim placement.

    Good luck

    Thanks gents,
I will begin this evolution tomorrow.
It is getting closer and closer to driving time again.
Let me see if I can remember, oh yea, I drove it last , about the summer of 82
