    Hi guys,

I'm looking at replacing the generator on my 1960 Buick Electra with a simple chrome one wire alternator.

I know I'll have to fabricate some brackets, but is there anything else I should know about this??

I've never changed an old car from a gen to an alt before. I usually just rebuild the generator if it needs it, but this generator has given me problems for the last time.

I would also like to wire up my "generator warning light" on the dash so it will still indicate a loss of alternator charge, like a broken belt or something. Anyone got any ideas?

And does anyone have any recommendations for a specific alternator or a place where I can find some pre-fab brackets?? I like getting stuff through summit racing, but their tech support isn't the most helpful when it comes to a car as old as mine.

    thanks,
    Mike.
