Free Pure Stock Exhibition Racing at the POCI/GTOAA Co-Vention July 12th at Kil-Kare

Hi Guys,

It's deja-vu all over again! The organizers of the POCI/GTOAA Co-Vention, held this coming July 9th through the 13th, has asked us to organize and run a Pure Stock Exhibition class at the Jim Wangers Co-Vention Drag Race on Friday, July 12th (8am - 5 pm). The race will take place at the Kil-Kare Raceway near Xenia, Ohio. Admission is FREE for the car and driver. General admission for others is just $10 per head. Talk about a deal! We did this four years ago at the last Co-Vention and we had over a dozen Pontiacs participate. We'd like to get about 20 Pontiacs to come, but if that isn't practicle, the organizers have okayed the participation of all eligible makes! Please contact me, Dennis, or Lyndon to let us know if you'd be interested in racing at this event.

The host hotel for the racers is the Hope Hotel & Conference Center located at Chidlaw Rd & Spruce Way, Bldg #823 Area "A", WPAFB, OH 45324. Their phone number is 937-879-2696. The room rate is $83.00, $90.88 with tax.

Over 1200 Pontiacs were at the last Co-Vention, and more are expected this year! Even if Pontiacs aren't your favorite cars, you'll have a great time at this event.

Dennis posted this on PY and said they are open to any brand of Musclecar to participate not just Pontiac's.

Do you want just Pontiac's or can the rest of us Pure Stocker's show up?

I'm gonna pencil that one in on my calender and see if I can make it as the day gets closer.

Free and about 4 hrs from home. I could handle that.

FWIW,The new Track owner is putting down 1450 feet of new concrete and new walls.Also the timing system is state of the art .New track dryers and a whole lot of paint .They are serious about making this track the shissle.I live 10 minutes from the track and own a pontiac also see you there

Spring and summer weekends are already filling up fast, but if I can get the Bird done in time I'll plan on going (same goes for Martin in June).

count me in as well. I responded to the thread Dennis started on PY. Now I just need to put the car back together.

Munson is 50/50 on making it. so maybe we can convince him he needs to come for a free race. especially if the banana is gonna be there :Brow:

OK, so any updates on our pure Stock brothers and sisters going to POCI? who's going?

Tim, you NEED to bring the POST there. I'll be there. I missed last time the co-vention was in Dayton as the car was broke so I spectated.

How does this work? Dan - are you giving the track a list of names?
I just don't want to get to the gate and have problems.

As far as I know, we just have to tell them at the gate that we are in the Pure Stock Exhibition Class. That's what I did back in 2009 and it worked. Paul Freese, one of the co-organizers of this big Pontiac event, is the one who asked us to come. Plus he may be joining us with his '69 Judge! It wouldn't hurt to remind the folks at the gate that since this is an exhibition class, it is no cost to the participants. I hope we get a fair amount of Pontiacs and non-Pontiacs!
