Seeing as how so many different parts of the Buick big block family were desirable depending on which year the engine was made I was wondering "What production components would you pick if you had your choice"? Now, obviously, Stage components will whip up all over normal production run stuff ... but Stage components are also really hard to find so I'd like to limit this to normal production options only. Although, we could also list components for a Stage Frankenstein (I've got dibs on the experimental 4-bolt main) if you'd like.

Here's what I've got so far:
    Code:
    [b]Component Years Part # Why it's so dang cool[/b]
455 Block 75-76 ?? Heavier construction than the earlier blocks, some oil mods already made
Crankshaft ?? ?? Is there any difference? Buick changed displacement by enlarging the bores.
    Rods ?? ??
Pistons 70 ?? Smallest dish on any of the 455 pistons
Cam 71 ?? NHRA says that there was an intermediate cam available with int=.430 exh=.468 lift
Heads 67-68 1372963 Big port heads flow 5% better than other stock Buick heads, can be found on either the 400 or 430.
1382983 69cc combustion chamber is best of the non-Stage parts.
                         1382985
                         1382986
                         1384720
Rockers 67-69 ?? Ratio of 1.59 as opposed to the 1.55 that was available from 70-76
Intake 67-71 ?? 72 and up intakes are hurt by cast in Air passages
Exhaust 67 1238094 R 2" runner for the #7 cylinder as opposed to the 1.5" used on all other years
                         1245433 L
    Carb 71?-76 ?? 800cfm Quadrajunk flows 50cfm more than the earlier 4 barrels. No 74 2 barrels for [b]you[/b]!
Comments? Corrections? Major components I whiffed on? :spank:

    800 carb starts in 71 not 72.

what, did that start in the middle of the model year? TA Performance says 72 was the first year. or was it like the 5/8" oil pickup ... an option on the Stage cars that became standard?
