Does anyone know were i can buy bolts for my frame its a 70 gs. I broke them off when i was trying to take my car apart so i can restore it. well all my frame bolts are rusted and probably not a wise idea to put back on them.

Same problem here. I killed most of the bolts and some anchor nuts are gone, too. So I am looking for a source ... or you take normal high quality bolts.

Many A-body suppliers sell the hardware kit. Probably cheaper and quicker to go to the local hardware store and match them.

Check out www.amkproducts.com. They have the exact bolt for most locations( the core support and under door areas may be different). It has the shouldered head and pointed end and is black as original. You can even match the original part # to it. they also have similair locking type nuts for the firewall area. I used the generic gold type that came with the kit and they loosened up on their own even after torquing to specs. I plan on ordering these. Why not have the correct stuff?

Check out page #26 of their catalog. Part #B-11631. Measure yours first.

actually I think the shorter ones # B-11630 are correct for most locations. It is GM part #3902232. Check out an assembly manual. How long are your originals? I am curious as mine broke off as well and are long gone.

There are a few different lengths of the original body bolts, parting out rel solid southwest A-bodys, I always save really nice original body bolts, eventually glassbeading & have them replated for restoration use.

Just finished disassembling a '70 GTO, two '70 LeMans, & another '69 GrandPrix. Moving forward from the back of each frame, each of 3 first body attachment bolts as I moved forward were of all slightly different length (see below). Lacking originals to base the length from, Assembly Manuals can provide the original part numbers 7 these can be crossreferenced in old Master Parts books. Here's the numbers from '70 & 71 GTO-Pontiac A-body Asm manuals that I made a file to keep track of body bolts.

    Thanks for the info Roger.

Just like to point out.....only Buick models used 2 bolts w/nuts on the firewall mounting to the frame. Chevelle, LeMans, Cutlass all had one mounting bolt on the firewall. I don't know why Buick did that but I can only guess less "cowl shake" with 4 bolts than 2.

George, I think other divisions like Olds may have use two on each side on only converts as I have taken a couple apart but my memory is a little fuzzy on this.

AMK sells the 3902232 bolt and they measure it as 2 5/8 but easy to confuse as very close. Buick used this bolt in all four locations under the fire wall as well as all four locations under the trunk. The bolts used under the door locations are GM#3902231 and core support is #1386294. Not sure on the measurement of the core support bolts but i think this may have been the only one without the washer style head. Thanks for the measurments on the 3902231 bolts Roger. Mine turned to powder when I twisted them off! :Dou:
These bolt locations are for 70 and 71 GS/Skylark maybe other years as well.

Buick was one of the few examples of 2 door hardtops factory installing body bushings with bolts in position 1. A-body wagons, Elco's, & most A-body converts also used a bolt in body mount at this location. Though not technically correct in a Concours resto, this is a good spot in other division A-bodys to upgrade & add a bolt-in body bushing.
