The Buicks used more body mount holes. Two more up front the way I remember it. No problem though, if you're wanting to put a Chevy frame under a Skylark. A little measuring, a hole saw and a drill will do the trick. :3gears:
frame what year frame do you need I have a few GS & skylark frames all mine are 1970-1972 I live in Winston Salem NC ( you need to post a location in you information )
The frames should be identical. I have 442 models and they only have 2 cowl mounts but the frame has holes for 4 cowl mounts that the Skylarks use.
thanks for the info George, I didn't know that. How about the body itself? How many holes are in the cowl mounts on the other A bodies? Does anyone know for sure why Buick used 4 on hardtops?
I know for sure Cutlass and Chevelle used 1 cowl mount per side. I am 99% sure Pontiac was the same way. Don't know why Skylark had 4...........only reason I can think of was for less "cowl shake or flex" driving over rough roads.
70 Chevelle convertibles used 4 mounts at the firewall. On the early ones they used a rubber pad without a bolt for the inside location, then later in the year they switched to 4 bolts. Don't know what the 71-72 models used. My 70 442 convertible only uses 2 bolts. Go figure. Duane
