    Well, it is ready to go. Sandblast the frame, the transmission crossmember, the rear end, sway bars and the upper and lower control arms for around $ 200.00

    Powdercoat all above $ 275.00.

    How does that sound?

    Len, sounds like a good deal! The shops I checked in the Phila, Pa area wanted that much to do the frame only!
    I'd recommend asking them what kind of prep they will do.... Some shops will wash the parts in a phosphate solution after blasting, and then oven dry. That'll improve corrosion protection and adhesion. Another shop would use a primer-powdercoat under the color....tho that'll produce a very thick coating. Techniques did seem to vary with the 10 or so shops I called. Ask to see if they can show you some finished work, before doing yours.
    I'm very interested in how your parts turn out! I'm very close to having my '66 frame ready for finishing. Maybe I'll use your shop if they do a nice job. Keep me posted!

    im also doing my frame soon. My frame is 70' jeep truck tho and powdercoating can chip and rust will start again. Anyone have good product names for me to use on a frame resto that wont chip?

    Xai,
    Powdercoating is said to be VERY durable. However, if the curing isn't done properly,(undercured), the coating will chip easily.
    I don't believe paint will be as durable. My top picks would be POR15, Zero Rust, or an epoxy....the epoxy offered by Viking paints (612-866-1212) has been recommended here. POR15 and epoxy will fade with prolonged exposure to sunlight. Not sure about Zero Rust.
    You might want to post your message on the Autobodystore.com messsage board. Just let us know what you find out!
    My favorite pc message board is on the Caswell plating site....

    Len, forgot to mention....ask the pc shop if they will mask off areas on the A-arms where the bushings will get pressed in. They can tape it off so the bushings will still fit without having to grind off the pc (ever see American Chopper!)

    Whoa! Too nice today!!! time to head out and get some paint on the floor of my '66 project.....I'm using Omni epoxy primer, topcoated with black urethane.

    Walt;

    Thanks for the reminder. I will tell them when I drop everything off. I think I will drop it all off next Tuesday. I still have to remove the bushings from the rear stuff.

    If I drop stuff of to the blaster by Tuesday, they will have it done and the powder coating shop will have it done by Friday. I want to give them as much stuff as possible so I can start putting stuff back on.

    Len
