I was taking off my door panels because my car is about to have full paint and body as I posted under color is everything and I found a very cool sheet of paper behind my driver door panel. The panels were so nice I just assumed the were repros. I was wrong lol.
Yeah Phil It is just not fair, is it? Hey, I was golfing in Vegas and Denver a couple weeks ago. They just don't have the same winters we do.
Hahaha well thats Texas for ya. It actually got to around 80 last week but has cooled down this week....but not enough to prohibit tshirts in the afternoon. Is it a little chilly up there or something?
lol, if they do post on here and lets see those build sheets !!! Have many other people found them in the door panels???
Buildsheet Nice find - photocopy that puppy, and protect the original in a clear plastic folder ! :TU:
Man-o-man I hope I can be that lucky when I start pulling apart the 71 vert, great find and it could hardly be in any better condition!!
T shirts and build sheets Up here in Maine I was out junkyarding in sneakers 2 days ago [ no T shirt though ], today I was cleaning up snowfall from hell ! I'm jealous Bo !!!! I never found one behind a doorpanel, and I have torn many many many A body Buicks and others apart...GREAT find ! Under seats has been the usual for me, but lately under the GAS TANKS has been where I have been most fortunate locating build sheets. Anybody else out there found one in a strange place ? I have heard of them under the carpet as well, but this is the first I had heard of a behind the doorpanel. Most of my parts cars and such have been convertibles, and due to our wet climate most paper is long since destroyed [ along with interiors ]. Maybe it differs on what region of the country they were built in ?? As it started snowing yesterday I found myself running through a snowstorm to the back end of a field to check out a 62 or 63 Special Convert with a 215 ALUMINUM V8 , it was all there ! Snow didnt stop me ! Anyone have info on usual build sheet locations per GM ???
Ah Ha Been there, & done that. :ball: I think most Flint and Fremont locations are on top of the gas tank, and Framingham seemed to stash multiple sheets. :Brow: Happy hunting. :3gears:
While restoring my 1968 GS 400 back in 1988, I found an option sheet rolled up inside the left front A-pillar when I removed the dash assembly. Was just like finding a Dead Sea scroll! Car had the rare rocker panel "Rallye" stripe, documented on the sheet . Car had original paint so I knew it belonged there, but nice to have it on paper for the goofballs that asked me why I put a "GT" stripe on my Buick.... Jeff
Note to self Note to self, pull A pillar assemblys out of the 70 GS455 shell in the back of the garage this afternoon. :TU:
I found an assembly line inspection sheet in my car behind the driver's side kick panel all rolled up. Had a little bit of black overspray on it, but you could still read most of it.
