I located a dash in a 71 Skylark with a factory tach. I don't know if it works but what would be a fair price to pay for it?
Will it work with an HEI and MSD 6 ignition?
    Thanks

I found the same thing. Complete dash, speedo, gas guage & tach.Engine & dash harnesses still plugged in.
These tachs.are pretty simple to work on. Took it apart , repainted the baby blue interior. Resoldered the existing joints. Be careful, the base pulls STRAIGHT OUT. Don't try to pry or wedge.
Made the mistake of not taping off the steel shell where the lights attach. Covered with paint. Used a Dremel to skim the paint after it was all put together. The tiny filings of steel made their way onto the coil of the tach., which is a permanent magnet.
Very much fun cleaning the filings off. They can cause the needle to stick.

    Back to the point:
I really wanted an original tach.. Previously bought a repro & later sold it.
Get the right market & you can really get a chunk of change for it.
How bad do you want to keep it vs. how bad does the buyer want it.
I think I paid on the high side.

Yes, wire it to the tach output on the MSD box, not the tach terminal on the cap.

Well, ones I have seen on Ebay have sold for $150-200.

Since you can not verify if it works, you are taking a shot in the dark.

Once I get it can I hook it up to my MSD box and test it before installing it?
Probably need to ground it, can you showl me the wiring?

    How accurate are they?

    Thanks

Tach is simple. Hook up the brown wire to msd trigger and ground the case. Accurate to +/- 200/300 rpm
