This is pretty messed up.........just heard it on the nightly news.....couldn't believe my ears. :Do No:

    --------------------------

A pair of 22-year-old males were rushed to Wilson Memorial Regional Medical Center in Johnson City this morning with injuries from a Town of Vestal house fire.

Vestal police identified the two as Todd A. Sanzo and Craig A. Johnson, both of 3516 Stratford Drive.

Johnson escaped from the 3:26 a.m. fire and suffered severe cuts in doing so, fire investigators said.

Sanzo was removed from the home by Vestal firefighters, officials said. He was prounced dead at Wilson Memorial Regional Medical Center, a hospital spokesman said.

    Johnson was in fair condition.

The fire was not determined to be suspicious said Vestal Police Department Lt. Gerald Mullins shortly before noon.

    -------------------------

*Please keep Todd's parents & brother and sister in your prayers. (also the roommate Craig - he's in fair condition).

Can't imagine what they're going thru......or even why this happened!?

Todd was one of the nicest guys you'd ever meet!! Excellent baseball player & golfer.

Can't say that I'm looking forward to going to the funeral........what can you possibly say to the family?? I'm about numb.... :(

There's nothing you can say to them. Just let them know your sympathies and be available to the family and to Craig. Give 'em a hug and mourn their loss with them. Sorry to hear of such a tragic thing.

Well......to add insult to injury - the investigators determined that the battery was not in the smoke detector that was in the kitchen (where the fire started).

This whole thing could have been avoided for the price of a 9 volt battery. :(

    so often

That is the case SO often when you hear of a fatal fire. So many people pull the battery when detectors start the annoying beep when the batteries are low and will get around to putting a new one in. Well, hopefully everyone on here will check their detectors now.

One thing I like to do is to tell the bereaved family that I will be praying for them. As most of you probably know, having someone tell you that really helps when you are down. Remembering that others care enough to take your burdens to the Lord for you can be a real boost.

    GSXMEN Got Jesus?

Went to the calling hours this afternoon, and later, went to a church service for Todd. Talk about PACKED!! Took 2+hrs to get from the parking lot into where the family was (minor inconvenience).

Later, the church service was the same....practically standing room only. Heard from several friends & family. It's quite amazing just how much Todd managed to do in his short 22 years here on Earth!! :TU:

He really touched the lives of MANY!!

For me....it was even more important to learn that he had Accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior about 6 years ago!! Todd would have been pleased to know, that so many of his friends & loved ones had all heard the Gospel, as presented to them tonight!!

It sure is good to see an answer to prayer(s)!! Not only did Todd leave this Earth with a Saving knowledge of Jesus, but I heard from a close friend that his Dad had accepted Christ several years ago....and his Mother was going to the church where the service was held!! I've been praying for their family for years. Praise God!! :TU:

The family is holding up as well as can be expected. The roommate Craig is pretty banged up.....he's on crutches and healing from many deep cuts. Please continue to pray for them all.

    Thanks :bglasses:
