has any body done this? i would like tips. from what i have read this conversion would be better in the long run(than the pillow blocks).

Also... what is the center to center measurments on the the four hole mounting flange for the ford? Is it any where close to the 12 bolt flange? Can you use the 12 bolt brakes still?

    Rob,
I take it you would like to know about installing Ford style housing ends on your 12 bolt? You can buy this style end with a Chevy "GM" bolt pattern. You will need a jig to weld it together. I just built a 12 bolt with the ends you are describing, I will post a picture tonight if I get a chance.

Here is a picture of a 12 bolt with housing ends installed using 3.150 bearings.

Ya! That what i was after. I'm ready to drive damn thing. I have to do somthing with the c clip deal though... I am probably just over engineering, but i have never liked any setup where a bearing depends on a press fit in an aluminim house... billet or not. This just seems like the right thing to do. also looks handy that the tube traps the flange bolts :TU:

What does this jig look like? I assume to hold end straight during welding and to Keep camber and toe in check.

Whom did you get the axles and house ends from?

    I appreciate the resonse

The jig is a straight bar with collars that slide over the bar to take place of the carrier bearings and axle bearings when your welding it up. FYI, Mark Williams has steel c-clip eliminators.

a big piece of shaft with collars... that's simple... I could probably even check it with a tram(dial indicator on an extention.. basically) from work.

    Thanks for the heads up.
