For those of you that have found the buildsheets on you car,you are very lucky. I unfortunately don't have the buildsheet on my car because the car was so badly rusted and the buildsheet went along with it. What can I do otherwise?

Boy,I'd love to get a buildsheet for my car.

    Carl -

Many of our cars didn't even get buildsheets, and those that did get them sometimes got the wrong one (or a bunch of wrong ones).

I assume you at least documented through Sloane? At least you '70 guys can do that!

Or Wayne Roberts for the 2nd half of 70 production.

There are a few old dealers that still have their paperwork dating back that far.

You are right Marco-I had Wayne verify that my car was indeed a Stage 1. When I first started ripping my car apart and couldn't find any paperwork,I immediately contacted Wayne to do the important research. My car was made in May of 1970 which is toward the end of the 1970 model year.

I just think it's kind of neat to have a build sheet-this way people can see how a car was built by the assembly line workers.
For me,I really like to have as much information on my car.

Carl, since you have the info from Wayne, you could have Duane make you a reproduction build sheet.
    He does an excellent job.
I have my original build sheets, and I still had him do one for each of mine.

    Check out his site:

Good idea Jeff, but Duane will not make a reproduction build sheet unless you have the original.

I know where you are coming from

Carl,I feel your pain. Hows this one grab you though?I have totally dissassembled my 71 GS 350 car and didn't find the buildsheet for it.My 73 GS,I have looked enough but not there either. The 72 GS 350 Dustin has....not yet. Needs a little more to get it totally apart though. We have 3 more GS cars to part out and since the gas tank is missing in them,I'd bet they are long gone too.But on a positive note,we have a 70 Skylark that we located 4 buildsheets in it plus a sheet for a 70 ElCamino Big Block 4 spd car.We also have a 72 Skylark 350 car that is a parts car and you guessed,3 buildsheets.I have another 72 Skylark car that was parted a few years ago and I have the sheet for that damn thing too.Plus a 72 GS that we parted out that had a 3x5 inch piece.Seems that all the parts cars have them but the ones we really want aren't there.....go figure.

    I didn't know that Carl.
I do know his are marked "reproduction", so I guess I just assumed.
    It was worth a shot.

    Jeff,
Carl is right, I will NOT make up a fictitious build sheet for a car, I only decode originals. That way if you see one of my decoded "reproduction" sheets you know it was based on info taken from an original. Over the years I have also been asked to decode a few "faked" buildsheets. When this happens I refuse to decode it and return the money. That's the way it is.
    Duane

    Carl,
If you have the info from Wayne then you basically have the build sheet. His info is based on Sales codes off the factory microfilm. It will list every option your car was built/charged for, so you know exactly how the car was optioned.

    Bill,
That is a partial build sheet from a Framingham car. I often see these 1/3rd build sheets from that plant. I don't know why they cut them in thirds, but always assumed it was because they only needed certain info for that part of the assembly process. I even have one car with (2) 1/3rd pieces but the guy never found the third piece.

The piece you posted here will have the engine, trans, wheel combo, trim code, production date, and other info on it.
I can decode these, but it is not a 5 minute job, so I need to charge something for my time.

    Duane,
I have an almost perfect condition framingham build sheet from a local Buick dealer(Watson Buick) for a 72 Skylark (the one with 3 buildsheets). If you would like a copy to help you and it will be of some use,I'll send a copy to you.I also have a couple good copies of the Leeds plant for the70 Skylark car that has 4 buildsheets.Jerry Schultz Buick Lake Geneva Wis.Both are pretty legible and may be helpful to you.I also have a framingham build sheet(not as nice) but readable(72 Skylark Custom) that could be of help.If you want any or all let me know,I will be glad to help.
