Greetings All~ Many have wanted some good quantative data on intakes and etc. I have had the opportunity to do some of that with the assistance of our fellow Nailheader's. Here is a basic run down. I have more detailed stuff for those interested. Port by itself on the flow bench followed by the Stock 4bbl, The Eelco 2x4 and then the Kring Log intake. .100 65.5 63.4 64.0 63.8 .200 124.0 117.3 121.3 122.8 .300 166.9 148.8 158.4 159.8 .400 196.7 169.2 183.7 189.5 .500 219.8 182.5 201.2 212.0 I have flowed these all higher than this. I have also flowed both upper and lower plenums all in .050 increments. Overall, the 2x4 has a 15-20 cfm increase over a stock 4bbl. Mike More to come later
Thanks Mike:TU: Would adding a carb (or carbs) to those intakes change those flow numbers significantly? That log intake might be the hot ticket for a fuel injection setup!:Brow:
=========================================== Speaking of EFI does Holley make the best Nailhead EFI system? If not, who would you think would?? Thanks, Ty
I believe there are MANY great EFI companies out there. Inglese, FAST, Hilborn, MoTec, Motorvation, etc etc. It's really up to you. What you can afford, the software features, etc. Mike
To bad mike is not around anymore. From what he is showing here a good port job might really help with the 1x4. Have to look into this with a ported intake on a head
I have been playing around with this factory square bore intake a little bit.For those of you who like this kinda info I went and ported a runner on a head that I have. Got it to where it was flowing ok for a nailhead. Worked on a factory square bore intake,Doc dual plane job plus some smoothing of some runners. First one is bare head second one with1x4 #3 runner third is # 6 runner Head 100-67 63.4 63.3 200-120 114 113.8 300-166.8 158.5 156.1 400-207 188.7 185.4 500-220.6 201.2 199.2 I do know that the eelco was a untouched intake because it was mine. So you could improve some on that. I tried to get the head as close to what Mike was doing. Just in case anyone is wondering what the intake flows. #1 229 #2 259 #3 245 #4 203 #5 268 #6 210 #7 258 #8 282 #s are all over the place. Thats why this is my hobbie and not for a living :beer
Number 3 is center runner upper plenum, number 6 is lower center runner. I just turned the intake around on the head. same intake runner on the head. Lower plenum does not flow as good, must be the low floor coming out of the intake
My EElco is on my car. It will be coming off soon. I will look at that intake closer. I would think that Greg G. could get more out of the eelco after seeing his # on the stock 2x4. I am going to work on the head more and I want to see if the head cfm goes up has the 1x4 seen its peak.
Starting to play around with this again with a 4 hole, as a Tom T. dual plan. Will see how this turns out. More to come:TU:
No... hope for that this spring. This would be a factory sqaure bore . With out doc dual plane. I am running a maxed out doc dual on my on my car now. Well, maxed out to the best of my abilitieso No:. The car does run good with it. Talking to Tom on this a few times and I am going to see what else can be done. Kinda fun playing with this stuff, But I am slow.More to come later:grin:
Greg G. did my 2x4 eelco a while back a go he had the same stock numbers as you 245 avg. after the port work he got it up to 265 cfm avg
