Rob Clary, you out there? Saw some pics on the Olds site of Fenton, Mo. where I-40 crosses some other road and it's all flooded out. They say I-40 will go under soon. That'll really slow things down out there. Heavy truck route, I hear.

Anybody hear from Rob? Rusty, I assume you're OK watching the news. Anyone else down there? Benoit?

I believe it's I-44 and 141 that they're talking about. I was sitting at a bar yesterday evening for dinner watching the news, and all they were showing was flood footage from the area. I couldn't hear what they were saying, the proximity of the highway to the water was getting VERY close...and closing even more.

The flooding is mainly south of the St.Louis area farther south you go the worse it is, really feel for those who are dealing with it. I went through it at work in 93 an we just caught the end of it for a very brief time no fun at all.

Hey Smartin I met up with a buddy friday after work for a few cold ones an when we left there was a Buick in the parking lot that sure looked like yours. We were looking at for a little while that car sure is clean looking, do you know if it sold new in St.Charles? my buddy who was with me his dad was the service manager for Bender Buick,Pontiac in St.Charles back then I mentioned that his dad probably seen this one when it was new.

    It's not I-40, it runs east-west thru Tex.-Okla.-Ark.-Tenn.

That was probably me. I was having dinner and happy hour at Shane & Weise's, then had some more drinks at Elmer's next door....then went to Mid Rivers Bar & Grill:Dou:

My car spent its life in Cincinnati, and I brought it over here in late 2006.

LOL...no scare with the dog, it's the wife's...and besides, it's still just a dog, and that's what dogs do, right? We're all overlooking the creek from a hill, so we're ok...but I had to pack one of our enclosed trailers full of the in-laws stuff to keep it out of the Eleven Point river. It didn't quite get up to there house, but it didn't like much...had all but 1 of the surrounding highways out of here closed, was over all of our big bridges except for 1. The folks just to the south and east of us are still getting it bad...another levee in Poplar Bluff broke yesterday, and the rivers are still waiting to crest I believe...down in Black Rock, AR, the Current, Spring, and Black rivers all converge and the water is just stupid in that part of the world right now. Several parts of the major highways in this area are closed: US63, US60, I-44...these are all major truck routes through this part of the state, 'cause there ain't a lot of choice other wise!

I have eye surgery in Jonesboro, AR, tomorrow morning, and I'm not sure I'm even gonna be able to get there without a helicopter...

We got it here too (50 miles east of Springfield ,Mo. 9-13" in 24 hours .
Our road became a river and the crossing on our second creek washed out bad ! It ended up being a 32 mile roundtrip to our mail box .:af: Needleess to say we only went once in a week .

Steve: where are you at? You said 50 miles east, so I'll guess Mansfield?

Sorta , I'm 7 miles out and down below Macombe in a small valley . We didn't get anything like up north around Saint Louis for sure . Luckily we have enough creeks that were able to handle the runoff . But it was dicey for sure . We have 3 neighbors here , us and the first to our north were the only ones able to get in and out safely . Our southern neighbors were trapped in between two flooded creeks and a major wash-out on the big one .The road from the first creek (which was bad enough ) all the way to the big creek(1/4 mile) was 8" deep and flowing hard . The first creek from us was up to the top of our fenderwells (wish I could have gotten pics but I was a bit busy )on our F/S Bronco . My wife and I crossed that one to take pictures and got spun headlong into the current coming back across heading upstream . We had the Bronco in 4-Low and the tires started spinning and bieng pushed , I had the front wheels cranked almost to right lock to get us back inline with the road . Good thing that Bronco has more rear-end weight than a pickup , or we would have been in some serious trouble (I wouldn't have tried crossing the first creek if that were the case) .

    How's the "bootheel" looking?

    Kennett and Senath, specifically....anybody know?

Ah, Macomb! I grew up in Mtn. Grove, and we still own the family farm just south of town on 95...my dad used to do a lot of racing with the Gleasons, who were from the Macomb area if I'm not mistaken.

Keith: I don't know anything specifically about Senath or Kennett...I do know the Black river is stupid big still right now, so I assume the St. Francis is in the same shape.

I just came back from Jonesboro, and the water has receded enough so most of the roads are open, but the water is right up to the edge of the highway still, and it's supposed to start rainging again. I wish I'd have thought and taken my camera, as there is so much water, and with the wind blowing making waves, it's like you're standing at the edge of the Gulf...just amazing!

BTW: surgery went well, doc says he's whittled me down to 20/15 in both eyes! :TU:

Its been raining up here in St.Peters for most of the afternoon they were calling for between 1 to 2 in. before its done which should be around 7 tonight. Somewhere I would imagine your creeks an rivers are getting fed from the Mississippi or Missouri so we ain`t out of the woods just yet.

They said on the News that people around the Fenton an Pacific area where the water had began to back down just a little an they were getting back in there homes to take a look an start cleaning, but because of the rain coming today that may be a little to soon to start any clean up an removal of sandbags.
