Flashlight drags were held tonight in Zelionople PA. Right at the liitle airport. Great event! I love good ole fashioned street racing. Tonights track length was probably slighty longer than an 1/8 mile (This factors in later). O were to start. My first run was against a stout 66 Mustang. I left well, but it was pretty quick. I especially enjoyed how my throttle hung wide open!!! Something went funky in the cable. I fought with it all night. I pivoted the throttle bracket to ease some binding. Next race was against my friends 350 Olds powered S-10. I smoked him good, but he'd get some revenge. I raced him again next and decided to leave a hair late. ( I like a close race) Well.....I did that and never caught him. That Olds sure had a full head of steam going on! But alas, it turns out the throttle bracket was now hitting the secondary linkage on the carb. A check revealed that the secondarys were opening halfway! Some bending later and I took the Olds to school. Now I decide to mix it up with a tough sounding 5.0. Without bragging to much, I was fierce off the line tonight. And that off-the-line toughness yielded me a dead even finsh with the quicker 5.0. We went another round and he left with me that time. Yeah, I lost. But not by much. SOOOOOOOO.........By now its 9:45pm. I got time for one more race. Everyone who isn't paired up hangs on the return road looking for a race. Some dudes with a LT1 Z 28 (96?) yell to me for a run. OK, I thought, what the heck. The LT1s are fast stock. I know darn well they are faster than me. But I've been working on the car** lately, and I think I may have a shot. On the approach road it starts to occur to me that this distance is shorter than last event. Now I wonder, can I get to the line with two gears instead of hitting third? You see, my third gear is 1-to-1 since my trans is an OD. That leaves me with a disadvantage. The spread between second and third is huge. I think of all this by the time I'm staged. And one more thing...I don't give a crap how hard this A833 is to shift, my right foot is staying planted! The flashlight is lit, and I'm gone like yesterday! I pull second so hard I thought for sure I'd be picking up parts. I see the finish line and glance at the tach. 5000 rpm with a few lengths to go. My theory works as I nail third only after I pass the line. The LT1 is two car lengths back! My home brewed second rate piece of crap $2000 car has sent one bad-ass musclecar packing! The LT1 driver tells me my car is bad! (Good Bad). Somebody help me now, my head has swelled to extra large proportions. The clock says I may get one more race in, but I say naw. I've come home dissapointed a few times to many,. Tonight I'll come home a winner..............Large head and all

**5AM 800 cfm quadrajet re-rebuild to prepare for the event. New top with those extra squirters behind the choke plate. Still has off idle roughness, but its making the power. Special thanks to Smartin!!

I'm running the stock intake again. I'm keeping the aluminum one around cause winter might yield a head & Intake porting job.
