Hey guys, So I'm getting ready to put the engine bay back together and plan to take my inner fenders to get powder coated. However, upon further inspection, they're much worse than I thought. My first reaction was to just buy new ones but after looking at ebay (up to $1,500 for one inner fender) I think fixing them might be a cheaper option. What do you guys think... 1. Should I pay a fabricator to fix my current fenders? I'm thinking it would take 3-5 hours $300-$500? (It doesn't need to be exact. My car is nonoriginal and for the most part, this won't be seen. or 2. Where can I find new inner fenders? (That aren't $1,500 on ebay)
Wouldn't hurt to visit a few shops to get some prices and compare. Heck the passenger inner fender on my Lesabre was patched on one spot. They did terrible welding but you really can't notice it unless your looking for it.
1) Yes, fix those. Shouldn't be $500, they don't need perfection. 2) Bone yard, or ask the guys here. It's also helpful if your looking for parts to share what kind of car it is and when it was built.
Them things are a mess,...i would replace them ..the parts has some of the AMD pass side available,..then source a driver side which are easy to find
Repros are available for the right side(battery side) for not much. The Parts Place .com is a source.
Parts place has the RH inner fender on backorder, unknown fulfillment. I've been waiting on one for 3 months.
If your passenger inner fender is good where it goes under the battery tray I am sure someone on here can sell you the back piece you need really cheap, so you can repair yours. Lots of guys should have that piece as it's the front part that rots out. As far as the driver side inner fender the 70 & 71 units are basically the same and are not too hard to find in good condition. You could either fix yours or get a replacement. However do not buy a 72 piece, as they are different. Duane
