First time down the track with the old girl... On the last day of the season - I finally took my '67 GS 400 to the track to get a "baseline". Absolutely nothing has been done to the engine or suspension and ran it as is - including the white wall radials and manifold full exhaust! The engine was rebuilt about 10k ago and the chassis has about 180k on it. There were three 1/8 mile runs and two 1/4 mile runs. Best reaction time was .075 and the worse was...well lots worse + one red light! Best 60' was 2.162 - worst was 2.840 (first run with NO traction). Towards the end of the day - the radials actually hooked with some throttle discipline! And the best 1/4 mile was 14.334. Way too much fun! For two of the runs, I was paired against a '03 (i think) Dodge Ram one-ton twin-turbo diesel pickemup that ran in the 13.4's before they kicked him off for not having a helmet. That was fun to watch as he was pulling away from me! I know 14's isn't worth writing home about but it was fun nonetheless! Now I have some winter projects to think about... :3gears: and a baseline to improve upon :TU:
14.30's is nothing to sneeze at. Thats a great time for a stock GS400, and a great time for a nice street toy. You'd be suprised how many "hot" cars in your town you could beat with that. :TU: :beer
