Hello all, I'm new here, I recently bought a 71 buick riviera boat tail in July, I've wanted one since I was 22, finally got it ten years later. I've already dived head first into it, removing things and trying to get all the experience I can while saving as much money as I can, I'm eager to learn as much as possible, this is my first classic car and I'm excited to see where the road takes me.
Congrats, and welcome to the forum. You've come to the right place, you'll get a lot of good advice from the guys here. That is quite the project you have taken on. I wish you well, I like those Rivs.
Thanks Luxus, I've got alot done on it already which I'll be making a project thread for, my current task is removing the old cracked windshield in order to check for rust in the gutters and if none then get it prepared for a new one.
If you can't find a 1971 grille, a 1972 Riviera "egg-crate" grille also fits your car and is made out of metal, instead of plastic ('73 is different) For parts you can try CTC Auto Ranch in Denton, TX Click image to view to their Riviera parts cars
I actually saw a few 71s and 72s on the ctc page, I'll definitely need to see if one of them has a LH door handle, on the grill I had a plan for something like this
Those door handles are for sale (reproduction) new. I will post a link later today, it's 02:42 hrs here. Or check Jurassic Classic Auto Parts yourself, the owner is also a board member.
