ive lurked here for the past month but i just bought my first buick yesterday, 1971 skylark 350. Sold a 64 impala to buy it and they sure dont build chevys like this, buick sat for 6 years and all i had to do was prime the carburetor and put some gas in, started right up, even the brakes still have pressure :eek2:
Decided to call it brown recluse after seeing the most fiddle backs ive ever seen under the hood (and thats in rural oklahoma) anyways hello to all! :) -Wally C.

    Welcome Wally,

Congrats on your Buick also. Not to run the car down but that would really give me the creeps thinking some of those varmits might still be lurking around in your interior:eek2:

I don't know if it would be appropriate to use for this application but with spiders in my thinking "Too much is JUST enuff" to whip open a door with the windows rolled up most of the way and lob a couple cans of bug foggers in there.

Can you tell I really hate spiders?

When my wife and I were just started dating many moons ago we were driving in here car (yep, my GS was broken..some things never change) one night in the country and all of a sudden she screamed and was kicking her feet around all over the floorboard and swerving all over till I grabbed the wheel.

I was like "What in the WORLD is the problem" and she was breathlessly saying Spider! Big BIG SPIDER! Ran across my legs BIG SPIDER!"

She said she could tell the thing was huge.Well of course I'm telling her there is NO excuse for endangering everyone in the car over a spider, and a person would be better off being bitten blah blah blah.
Of course she really appreciated those comments and asked me then to drive her car tomorrow because every morning Mr. Spider had a web somewhere inside her car.
"No problem" I'll take care of that "Big Bad spider" I'm smuggly thinking.
I dropped her off and drove her car home.Next morning? Web under the headrest.Just a little web and a thorough search produces no "monster" spider.
So I'm all happy driving around a 5 speed Jetta, sunroof, good stereo etc and even offer to take my brother to lunch as I had the car all day .
So my brother and I are laughing about girls being whimps and all as we pulled into the parking spot at Hardee's still laughing....................
That's when I felt the first leg ON MY NECK:shock:
Quickly proceeded by how ever many that sucker had as he quickly jerked to a stop right over my juggler vein:shock:

My brother was halfway out the passenger door as I'm as quietly as possible calling his name which he doesn't hear but notices I'm not getting out and looks back in on me.

Whats a matter? he asked, I said "WHAT is on my neck?!!!" He proceeds to bang his head on the top of the door frame yelling OH MY GOSH!!!

I jump out of the car and tell him to get it OFF ME and he REFUSES! TOMMY GET THAT THING OFF ME!!! I yelled, I don't want it to bite me there!
He finally made some whimp olla swat at it and fortunately nicked it just enough to toss that sucker on the asphalt.

AND YES that sucker was NASTY!!!:jd: Big ole skin colored lima bean sized body long bent legs.MAN!! It still gives me the creeps thinking about that thing sitting right on my neck!

Then he started to make a quick break for under the car next to us before my number 12 steel toed work boot slammed down on him with a stomach rolling crunch and splat which grossed my brother and me out pretty good.

Big sigh of relief and glad thats over until I look up and see everyone inside Hardee's near the windows staring at us like we just fell out of a space ship or something:Dou:

LONG LONG story short (to late for that) I wouldn't screw around with those especially being brown recluses.

Sorry I rambled on so long but I guess I chalk it up to my spider "therapy" or something.

Oh, and I did apologize to my wife:Dou:

Welcome and good luck on the car man:TU:

Ill get some pictures up as soon as i can, but i have a really crappy camera so they may not be the best pic's. -Wally C.

ok heres a couple pictures, i bought this car for $500 btw
(numbers match) i have a matching set of centerlines, but the front ones arent on the car right now, just a spare and one of the originals. it wont be on the road for a little while yet, a crossmember came partially unwielded on the driver side.

    $500 Bucks?Good buy!

    Wally,

Cool deal man.Looks like you have a great start to whichever route you decide to take.

Got me going just looking at it.Within 2 seconds in my mind I had a ram air hood, sport mirrors, and a N-25 exhaust bumper on it.

Which direction are you going to take with the car?

not sure yet, i dont make much money so it will be a little at a time whatever it is. however thought's of a fiberglass GS hood, TA headers, TA intake, upgrade to 4bbl carb, going to take the door ding trim off the sides because it just takes so much away from the body lines.
it already has a different differential underneath it, not sure the ratio yet but was told its very low gear. its a th350 automatic car btw
i want to get it done in a solid color (looks real good in an orangeish color on cpu) but want it to stand out as a buick, and not be confused with a chevelle which already happend to 1 person

It is a mostly original numbers matching car, so i want to be careful with what mods i do.
