Yeah, this is random, but I'm happy and felt like blah blahing.

I have a Blaupunkt head unit putting that sounds awesome unamplified. But I had a spare (read free) amp laying around that I didn't think was powerful enough for a sub (150W x 1 rms @ 12V), but it's a good amp, so I hooked it up to my 6x9's in the back (Infinity Reference 693.something) and it puts out 45W x 2 rms, and holy crap, what a difference.

So I proceeded to blow them. :Dou: By accident. :Do No: They just sounded so good no matter how loud, well, up to a point.

Luckily, I also had my sub ready to go. :beer It's an Infinity reference 12.1 or some such (forgot already). Point being, it's rated for 300W rms, has a signal to noise ratio of 91dB (if I remember right), and a frequency response from ~23hz to 450. These numbers may be a bit off, but I'm pulling from memory, and I looked at so many subs before I settled on this one that it's kinda hazy. Anyhow, I have it in a sealed box of about .95 ft^3...a bit under it's recommended 1.25 ft^3, but hey, can't beat free.

So I got an amp (ebay $50) and crossover (ebay $10) for that one, hooked it up, and damn! I no longer care that I blew the 6x9s. Well, I do, but I'm not too worried for now. The amp is a Kenwood 729s rated at 300W x 1 rms @ 4ohms, which is exactly what I was looking for.

Sorry for the random long rant. I usually don't post too often, as school kills most free time, and I had to squeeze wiring that up between studying and sleep.

Now I just have to finish fabbing up the kick panels and putting in the Infinity Kappa components I got for the front. Woo!! I think I'm going to go drive around now. It sounds so good, almost as good as my home audio system, but the mid range is kinda lacking do to me killing the 6x9s. Eh, oh well.

Hope you enjoyed my random blah blah. :TU:
