What have people been able to make the big Riv's go in the quarter mile? What year, how fast, and what mod's?

Just curious how many people have got the big riv's into the 13's:) , 12's:grin: ?

14.31@95MPH last Saturday. HUGE disappointment. I SHOULD be in the 13.7 range. I think the fuel pump was part of the problem. The crap GM HEI distributor is another. IgnitionMan is redoing my point distributor as an HEI conversion. Should make a big difference.

This isn't one of the fastest, but it is pretty impressive for a Riv. A friend of mine has a `72 Riviera GS completely stock right down to the aircleaner and smog pump. It has run a best of 15.02 at approx. 1000 ft elevation. No lightening has been done and it is even a moon roof car, I believe it weighs in at 4900 lbs with driver in it. Traction is still an issue with the car which with slicks would put it into the 14's. The car also has a couple of hundred passes on it.

Fred Catlin out of Indiana has a 67 Riv that ran 11's at 4000lbs 20 years ago. I think he still has it, he his a great buick engine builder

My dad has a '64 Riviera that has run 12.8's on nitrous with a 1.66 short time! There is a shot of it in the members rides section with the front wheel off the ground launching.

    Hi Dave,

I too owned a 1973 Riviera GS (non Staged). She was my tow car the olnly modifiaction was a 150 pound 3 class series hitch attached. One year I blew the rear on my '70 GS and decided to unhook the Riv from the trailer and run it instead. My surprise was with 93, 000 miles on it and the engine never was opened up (I was second owner). Bone stinking stock with 2.91 gears radials spare tire. Crusied to the line with the ac on, then turned it off, she ran a 15.60 at 88.75 mph with a 2.27 sixty foot time. I then brought the barge to the scales, in which she tipped it at 5,025 pounds with me in it. I know its not the fastest, but it for sure impressed the hell out of me!
