What has been your best 1/4 mile time in a Riviera? I have yet to get my 72 to the track but I will post the numbers once it happens.

My best was a very sad 16.353. In my defense this was before posi, with a full fuel tank, the spare and only my second run ever so I'm still a rookie. I've got the posi in now and honestly I think sub 16 is within reach . There is a 12 second boattail on the board somewhere, just do a search.

Trevor, Well at least your honest :) I think a 15 would be in your reach with just a few mods. I my self am scared to death to take my first run on the track. I am keeping my fingers crossed to be at least in the 13's but I won't know for sure untill I do it.

Yardley, not a bad time, I would be plenty happy with that.

Rob, Thank you for the kind words, yes that was my Riviera in the Review. To have my car in the magazine was a great privilage and a wonderful affirmation of my accomplishment.

Bald Menace, a ten sec Boat-tail Wow I would love to get some tips from that guy. He must be the fastest Boat-tail out there.

I ran a 15.10 in my 73 Riv I had (not GS). Put some 26 in slicks on and cranked the timing up for race gas.
Be sure to remove the air cleaner or run an open element one. The stock single snorkle (small at that) chokes the carb big time. Down from 800 cfm to less than 500 cfm. I wonder why they even bothered to put an 800 cfm carb on if they were going to choke it to death.

Mark Dalquist here in Fargo has his 67 Riv dipping into the 11's, last I heard. Don't know if he's been out this year yet, had tranny problems, and a car project for someone else, to complete. Took me for a ride on the street a year or so ago... :eek2: :eek2: Yes, he had a 5 point harness on the passenger seat.

I never knew the single snorkel was that bad! I used to have an open Moroso, but I couldn't get it to sit properly. I like the stock look, but I'd like to get better preformance. Anybody got any ideas? BTW my run was with the stock air cleaner.

Yeah, I read a test in a Holley book that showed like 475 cfm. I guess it kept the grannys from spinning their tires too much.

I took a stock single snorkel and drilled 4 3/4 in holes in the back side and used a K&N element. Gives a nice sleeper look but gets the air needed.

I like stealth (stock look)......but you can use a slightly taller element or make a spacer ring out of fuel hose and a union. :Brow:
