I've been looking for the quickest buick apollo in the country/world. I have one that is running 8.056 @ 171 in the quarter and I want to know if there is someone out there that is running faster then that in an apollo. I hope that someone out there can help me.

I've gone throw a lot of different motors, but at the moment I am running a GM 582. The motor is making 1225hp and 950 torq. I added a lenco 4 speend and two stages of NOS for this summer. I am waiting for the snow to melt up here to try out all the new stuff.

I have some pictures of the car and motor on my web site. www.stocksracing.com. Go to the apollo page and at the bottom there will be an apollo build up and it will show what I have done to the car.

  6. Where do you run, Brainerd?

    appollo-or-nova?

dont take this as a flame as im not offering it that way, however-the only part of you car that even resembles an appollo at this point is the side graphic and possibly the rear bumper/tailights, although i did not see a pic of them. i see a nova nose and chevy power, making it a nova in my book. as far as i know, dave beniseks buick powered full interior full weight appollo has run high nines, not sure how fast other buick powered apollo's have run. but i think, especially in this forum, a buick engine is what makes it a buick.:error:

    Jstock582,

Nice ride!!! What does the car weigh without driver? What trans and rear gear are you running?

Also.. this is kind of a tuff crowd of loyalist but dont take it personally. Its very difficult to get Buick engine to live making the kind of HP your making. I struggle everyday with this issue. I want to go fast but I want to run a Buick engine. I could go much faster for a great deal less $$$$ if I would convert.

    Take Care

Nice car, I don't know about the engine, but the car sounds cool. You don't have the fastest buick on the board, I think someone runs 7's on here with a buick engine, I forgot who though. Maybe I will get lucky and he will chime in. Oh well, nice car anyways.

If I did a car like that with my engine I would run 8s too........

Well, I think I know what you mean, i forgot how much an average buick weighs, so i guess you have a point there, but some guy on here has a buick powered car that runs sevens, maybe he will find the thread and post:beer

I almost forgot, there is a new buick engine coming out from PAE Enterprises, it's a 573 and it has it's own block, not a 455 block. Jim Burek is working on it. It's actually a package, "Buick 573 pack". And it's supposed to have around 1200 to 1500 HP, which will have basically no big limitation, except for the sky and the path to it:3gears: That's the only info. I know on this engine, i don't know about torque, but im sure it's got a fair amount of torque for it's HP:beer

I know that I put a fiber glass front end on the apollo that is a nova front clip, but no one made an apollo clip without having to go custom. I had the grill recreated in graphics to have the look.

I guess you might not call it a buick because I run a chevy motor, but lets face it GM owns both companies and that is good enough for me. Plus I am pretty sure that in the 70's buick was slipping a few chevy motors in some of there intercompany cars.

The apollo weighs in at 2415 without drive. I had a powerglide, but I am switched to a lenco 4 speed. I am running a 4.56 rear gear.

Its ok really If I had a 2400 lb car I know I can go 8s. I choose to run a buick in my buick and not take the easy way out. My car at 3990 and a 10 inch tire no trans brake, no bottle, thru the mufflers with full interior runs very low tens so Im happy for now......

Well, in my opinion, If i bought a buick and wasn't certain it was a buick engine, i would rip that sucker out, and throw in something buick........you see, I don't believe in putting other GM crap into my car unless it's maitenance or something, then I have to put A/C delco products or something in, but otherwise, it's all buick. Sweet, plain, simple, and to the point. In the market right now, Chevy and a-lot of other companies are into crate and heavy race motors, but what's the buick people doing in the market? Building a perfectly fine 573 CI buick motor that will run with a very compatible setup, and that's an advantage, but the main thing here is HP and torque, to get you the #'s you want at the strip with a buick engine.(At least made for a buick) 1200-1500 horses? I would say that's a little too much for me right now, and a-lot of people concerns goes towards money that it will cost, but it is a race engine, and as all race engines go, you better save your pennies and hold on to faith, because it's not cheap, but it's buick, and it's for buick's, and it's intended for buick people. I hate to talk so much, but i just want to get something through this thread.

I personnal have nothing against buick motors or buick loyalist. I worked with the buick motors. I ran my car at 3800 with 9" slicks and ran into the 9.8 range without the bottle yet motor, but I wanted to go faster then that.

I am sure that the all buick 573 will be a fine motor at 1200-1500 hp, but at the moment it is not on the market and by the time it comes around I will be building a new motor in the 1800-2000 range.

    FROM YOUR APOLLO WEBSITE:

No one can argue with those numbers, Chevy or not!
Welcome to the board. Don't let people here get you down with their Buick or nothing attitude. There's a lot of people that aren't like that.
At least you have the right idea...
there are so many here that insist on running a big heavy car with more motor than the chassis and suspension can handle. Seems like lighter is the way to go. Must be a wild ride!

Im sorry if I put you down or anything, as i did not intend to stir up a fight or anything.:( Sometimes the worser half gets to me, and yes, them numbers are impressing. Apollo's are very nice, small car's to put a Big engine in, for the impressing numbers.

    Welcome aboard:beer

    Welcome aboard Cody...
    Nice "Bracket" car.
I really like the pictures of the car before you got serious with the chassis.

The car does look good (Buick styling) and it's a strong runner. But there are lots of folks with your combo and weight running those kinda numbers.

    FASTEST APOLLO IN THE COUNTRY?

Maybe...but thats nothing "noteworthy" in itself.

Hang around here awhile and you might change yur mind about dat Cheby...(The winds of change are a blowin)
