the flowmaster system works well. it's also not too hard an install except for head pipe mods...they have to be cut to size, and in my case, i had to have a section replaced becuase my header collectors didn't line up quite right. i think a meineke or midas did it for me...they had a machine for mandrel bending, but did not use aluminized pipe, so i have a 1' section of pipe rusting while the rest is still pretty.:blast:
We installed a TA 2 1/2" system on my brothers '71 GS vert. We were very pleased with the fit of the system and I will probably use it on my '69 as well. Everyone is very quick to criticize the flowmaster mufflers and I would agree that the 2 chamber muffs are down right obnoxious but we installed the Delta Flow 3 chamber flows on my brothers car and I thought they sounded great. His car is a small block with headers and the exhaust tone is actually pretty mellow until you lean into it. I'm sure there would be more of a noise level with a big block but I didn't think the interior noise was bad at all even in the 'vert.
Magnaflow question Vern, can you tell me which inlet/outlet configuration you're using? Center/center, offset/center, or offset/offset? Thanks!
Offset/Center. If you have a lowered car and want to speak softly & carry a big stick the 4x9x18 long case off/off or if you run a 6000+ rpm big block use the 3" pipe ofc/ctr. The 4x9 case obviously gives you back an inch of ground clearence but the 5x8 is quieter. The 5x11 is still quieter even though its two inches shorter but they will still sing at full song.
