HI, I,am new at this Forum thing so I,am not sure how it all works, I just bought a GSX Stage car with the headers that the GS club sold. I understand that they also had the rest of the exhaust system made and could be purchased to fit from the headers on back. Has anyone got a number or person I could contact to get a set? Thanks NJSMN
Well there are several choices. TA Performance has the correct tail pipes which most do not. Torque Tech sells nice mandrel bent systems too. Gardner sells the exact stuff but the original was 2.25 and looks small. Most use 2.5 or even 3 inch systems. Also you need to decide if you want an x pipe or not. Mufflers are an issue. Good test results on the Walker 20 inch case 17339 I think is the number. About 45-50 from Summit. We had a QQ 70 stage X, auto and now have a 70 QQ stage 1,4 speed.
Thanks for the Info. Also I would like to purchase a Stage Conv. Had one and sold it. Stupid. Of all the cars I,ve owned it was the best driving and quickest one. Have had several hemis. NJSMN
Several here have one. A member here just sold one on ebay for more than 75K and it was nice but driven by Mike. I am usure if it ever had a frame off. I do not think so. They are some of the first Buicks to jump in price. Marco here has the stage 1 registry and owns one. He knows more about the location of the cars than anyone. Marco chime in.
Howdy NJSMN - Welcome to the V8buick board, and congratulations on your recent purchase. Please feel free to post (at least) your first name so we know how to address you - Thanks! As Jim stated (thanks Jim), I run a factory stage1 registry, trying to document the survivors. Mark Macoubrie (gsxnut on this board) runs an exclusive GSX registry. You can check out his site at www.buickgsx.net I'm not sure if I have your car already. Can you please email me the VIN (or Fisher body number) - 455stage1@comcast.net. Or, you can look it up Here. Also, if you give me your phone # and a good time to call, I can give you a call when my kids are sleeping or possibly during the day while I'm at work (on break, of course ) With regard to the exhaust, I've learned the hard way (read:$$$) to get everything at one place. I'd call the GSCA and get a price on their 2.5'' or 3'' mandrel bent exhaust systems. If ground clearance isn't an issue, get an x-pipe. The GSCA contact information can be found on their website Here.
Someone on the board (and don't ask me who, that is his business) has a friend who has a 72 Stage 1 4 speed convertible, 1 owner, 76,000 miles that he is going to put up for sale for $45k. Red with a black interior, nice original shape. If you are interested, let me know via this thread or PM me, I will be sure he gets the message. No looky loos please.
