Hi, I have a problem with my 71'Riviera engine. At full throttle, the secondaries open but there are "holes" during acceleration. Last time, the engine even stopped 150 miles after accelerating at full throttle. The gas richness was however recently reguled. What shall I do ? Cleaning the carb ? I wonder if this problem is not linked to another one : the car is quite difficult to start when cold. I need to pump many time the gas pedal before the engine runs

It may be a couple of different things and time to rebuild your carb.

Your fuel bowl may be leaking out and that is why it is hard to start cold. You have to crank engine to fill the fuel bowl. Your float may also have issues and not set correctly to allow enough fuel when driving.

    I hope this helps.

Thanks for your advice. We have dismanteled the carb. The gas level was very low inside the bowl, but no apparent leak and no problem with the float. But one of the 2 extremities of the metering rod was twisted, the fuel filter was quite dirty, like the bottom of the fuel bowl. We are going to rebuilt the carb with new seals and tubes.
