Hey Engine Guys, When installing a vacuum pump on our 455 Buicks where would you suggest pulling the vacuum from in order to get the least amount of oil? Would this be on the valve covers for in the valley???? Thanks John
I have mine pulling from the front right valve cover. I was told the oil will be as far away from there under acceleration as it can be.
John I copied Bruce Kent and Dave B. they had it in a couple of places and this was the best. I put it just to the side of the distributer in the front of the block I used a 45 degree bulk head fiting with the angle pointed down in the engine. I have never gotten more than a table spoon of oil in the puke tank from a run. With it in the front under exceleration the oil splash seems to go to the back of the engine o No: . I pull 14 inchs across the line and when I launch it is at about 8or 9.
HI john i pick up my vac in the front of the dr. side valve cover after about 5 runs i drain the catch can and i only get about a couple table spoons of oil out of it. THE guys at moroso told me you need at least that much oil just to keep the thing lubed up. john
Have it! Peterson oil/vac pump with custom mount to the timing cover. Got the entire kit soup to nuts w/ the valve covers, oil pan, puke can, evap., fittings, etc. All I need is the braided lines. Real sweet! Steve did an excellent job on this kit. Plus he is always quick to answer your calls for any questions. The kit will be on my new engine, just waiting on the Stage 1 TE Heads from JW. Any day now:Brow: About 80 some odd days until Norwalk. I HOPE to have it all running by then. Rick
I had the kit with shots in the August/Sept issue of the BPG Build Sheet. Steve also sells different kits and parts of the completed kit. Reynold I sent you a PM Rick

Sorry Doug. I really needed a good laugh, and man I gotta tell ya', for some strange reason, that just hit me right in the funny bone. This reminds me of an Olds bud that I grew up with. He's actually my 4 year olds godfather. We call each other names like that. I call him 'Goula' (ass). My 4 year old picked up on it and now calls him Uncle Goula!
Pump Kit Hi People, I am in the process of putting together another complete pump setup. All purchased components should be here by late next week. After they all arive, I will take a few pictures of all the pieces and parts and post them ASAP. The complete basic kit starts @ $2299. That includes; *A spline drive mandrel, (with nut to rotate engine manually), fit to your application. *HTD pulleys for the pump and mandrel (34 & 21 tooth, or your choice.) *HTD belt *Pop-Off breather for the valve cover (screw-in, o-ring type) *Breather/Over flow tank w/bottom drain *Remote oil filter housing & K&N HP 5001 filter (Big free flowing filter!) *Peterson Wet/Vac pump w/90 deg. swivel -16 AN oil inlet *Custom machined pump mount *SRE custom aluminum fabricated oil pan ( to fit girdled or non-girdled engine) *-16 custom machined external oil pickup (fit to pan) *SRE fabricated aluminum valve covers w/fittings welded on Each application is a little different than the next, so prices will vary accordingly. It sounds like a lot of money, but if you start pricing everything separately, plus fabricate alot of your own parts, it becomes a pretty good bargain. The racer net on the pump alone is $933! You will still however need to purchase a small fortunes worth of AN hose and hose ends. Those pieces are not cheap, and like I said each application is different, so I will let each person purchase their own. Any questions, please call. Thanks, Steve #920-684-6776
