So what's the deal with the settlement for the Equifax Breach? Wasn't it like 200 million people exposed? No one going to jail? Ridiculous.

You can check to see if you were effected?

I was and now it's time to get a credit report to see if there was any fraudulent claims. You only get 6 years of monitoring if you file. That should be a lifetime of monitoring for free. So after 6 years they are going to make you pay for monitoring and if something happens 10 years from now then they have no liability. What a joke!

Lon—you can freeze access until you need a report. Then you unfreeze it. As soon as the report issues you freeze it again. It is unfrozen for about 24 hours. This is just one step.

The beautiful state of Connecticut lost a laptop with thousands of peoples info on it. I got a year of LifeLock out of it. :(

I have all three reporting bureau's on credit freeze. Its a piece of cake to do it now.

Thanks Jim. GREAT advice on the credit freeze. It might be my best option over putting a fraud alert on my accounts.

Looks like Equifax is squirming out on the $125 because too many applied. I'm wondering if their 4 to 6 year credit monitoring is worth it? Any opinions? Sounds like another way to get you to agree to their coverage and scam you for more $$ down the road. I still think someone needs to be in jail......

Jose - sorry for your luck but hopefully it won't be to bad. Nice 70 BTW

...why is it every time an organization fails to protect data they're responsible for, solution winds up being our problem...

Yep, same here. Put a freeze on all 3 of them within a couple of days of the breech. Have had zero problems since then.

Lon, where did you see they were trying to squirm out of it?
