I got a 77 regal with a 350 in it, and i went to start it one morning and it was blowing out white smoke from the exaust, i drove it around for a minute and the temp light came on so i parked it and made sure my radiator was full, and drove back home. well it sat in my drive way for two days and now the radiator is empty but there isnt any signs of leaking on the ground. I was told it could be a cracked block or headgasket, any ideas or symptoms i could use to tell them apart?

you were most likely told right.
first, you can see if there is collent in the oil
secondly, check the spark plugs for signs of collant
These are good places th start.

unfortunatly white usually means coolant. had it had any overheating problems?

no not really, the day before it happened everything was cool, i drove it to school, and drove it home but it died at a stop light, was weird it was kind of jumping, then cut out. It restarted no prob, it was about 2 blocks from my house so no biggie, i parked it then didnt touch it until the morning, and then started it and was blowing white clouds out the back, and now the temp light comes on so i havent been driving it. Taking it to a Friend's Dad, whos a mechanic, tomorrow hopefully he'll tell me whats exactly wrong, im hoping it will be an easy fix like a head gasket. Oh and do you think i can fit a 455 in it? or to many clearence issues?

A head gasket isn't always an easy fix. There is a good possibility all the anti freeze in the oil has ruined your bearnings...in which case you will need a rebuild, which will cost more than the car is probably worth.
