new to the forum and new to buicks. i've been building and painting older (60-early 70) cars for about 10yrs. i've just bought a 87 t-type regal and i'm going to build a gn clone, the car originally had a 307 in it, motor and trans are gone and i have a fresh 350 sbc and 350 turbo trans from a mid 70s chevy. my ? is will these bolt up in the regal with the chevy motor mounts and the chevy crossmember for the trans or will i need to get buick mounts and buick crossmember. i know some thing were different in the buick, olds and pontiac g- body compaired to the chevy. thanks for any help

I dont know the answer to your question, but

I put a Chevy 327 into a skylark using an adaptor motor mount from Transdapt. Maybe you could search summit or wherever for your application. If your project needs an adapter mount I will bet they make it.

I also had a 87 Buick T-type with a V8 engine. I actually special ordered it brand new in 1986. The 307 is an olds engine and it would be an easier swap if you got a 70-72 olds 350 to install and it should bolt right in. If you really want the chey motor in that buick you'll need to get motor mount stuff from either a pontiac or chevy monti carlo SS which used the chevy motor. FYI the Buick and Oldsmobile use the Olds 307 motor in there cars in those days. Hope this helped out. I to loved my 87 Buick T-type and it is a real rare car because not many made.

    alec296 i need another buick

you will need sbc mounts crossmembers are same on gbodys depending on trans
2004r crossmember can be used for 350 trans but you will only have 3 bolts in crossmeber to frame

Lots of the 4door 78 to 84 A and G body cars used the chevy 305 and 350 engines. 78 to 81 cars used 350 trans. Good source for frame mounts and trans crossmembers. At least fuel lines are on passenger side on Olds 307 cars, that makes one easy change item.

If you REAllY are interested in a sbc in a Buick, why use an old engine and transmission? Sell it to someone who is into mid-70's Chevys. Then do it right, put a EFI sbc and 200r4 trans. in the Regal. Note: The rear axle ratio could be 3.21, as I think that is what was use behind the 307. You could also put a Buick V8 in the Regal. Just because you an older sbc and trans., it may not be the best choice.

I installed a 350 sbc & th350 in a 86 4 door Bonneville (g-body) that was org. a Buick 3.8 and metric trans. I used the frame/motor mounts out of a 79 impala. Used the same crosmember and driveshaft.
Best Sleeper I ever had besides the woody wagon I have now. The 350 had well over 400hp.
