Has anyone used "Engine Restore" in the silver can? If so, my question is do you add it to 5 quarts of oil, or do you replace one quart with it? Thanks
I have but it's been a long time. I think I just put it in, then topped off the oil to the normal level. I don't think it would be good to overfill the oil pan. The stuff will end up filling in scratches and wear in the engine and will be consumed as it does it's thing so keep an eye on the oil level. I'm probably not the only one who's used it here, just the only one shameless enough to post about it!
Well I changed the oil in my Jeep (With a Buick 350) yesterday and Put in 3 quarts of 15W-40 Rotella and 2 quarts of Lucas Oil Stabiizer. I want to put the restore in but I don't want to overfill the pan. Any more input guys.
All I can add is that your Rotella+Lucas brew is getting pretty thick for the winter months. However, your application/problem/climate may vary. ElectraJim
Drain off a quart or so and add the "snake oil" and then top off with the reg. oil. Like Mark said, you will need to constantly monitor your level as the stuff begins its "magic". Then start saving to properly rebuild the engine. If you are using Restore then there must be issues.
I live in Yuma, AZ. One the hottest cities in the country. Cold here in the winter is maybe 40-45 in the mornings and its gets back up in the high 60's by lunch. My rotella+lucas combo should be ok for temps like that right?
I used this stuff in a 2000 Ford van we were using as a commuter van. Oil consumption was a quart every 400 miles. Tried the Engine Restore after a oil change and waited until it was low 1 quart. Results were we did no have to add another drop of oil for the remainder of the oil change cycle and the next cycle. I figured the vehicle was not mine what did I have to lose. Dave
