    Hi all
I'm looking at engine options for my 56 Century that I bought minus motor and trans. I'd like to keep it a nailhead - what would fit in without major modifying? The car is otherwise stock.
    Thanks

Only a 56 motor will fit without modification. A 53 to 55 will fit if the front cover and water cross over are changed to 56, but 56 motor has bigger valves, higher compression, longer duration cam etc. 57 up have different trans bolt pattern and exhaust ports.

    Hi There,
Ed Gunyo here. I had 56 Century 4dr model 63. The motor for that model was a 322 cubic inch V8, 9.5 compression ratio, taxible horsepower of 51.2. That is with a Dynaflow transmission. With the motor and transmission the car would do a true 100 mph no problem. So if you have a good stock car... keep it that way and get the motor. The same motor is in the Roadmaster and Century only. PS it runs great on regular gas... and gives a good 14 mpg in town and 17-19 on the road. Not a bad car to have.
