When you say that it won't turn over, do you mean that the motor isn't cranking or that it's cranking and doesn't try to start?

If your motor isn't even spinning, then the problem lies between the battery and the starter or solenoid. Or, the wiring in between them and the switch.

Is the battery the only thing that has changed since it was last started?

Hi, If you have a good battery and voltage, but no sound at all when you turn the key to start(i.e. clicking starter selonoid) you may have to adjust the neutral safety switch. I had this problem this year, sometimes it just didn't start. Move the shifter around when you turn the key. If it is not starting when hot, it could be a "heat soaked" selonoid. This seems to happen on hot days when the motor is real hot etc causing your selonoid to freeze up. Otherwise I agree with the previous reply. Mark

If it's not clicking at all then I'd go with the shifter position trick first. While holding the key in the crank position, move your shifter around. It should crank in neutral aswell as park. If still no click or crank, check the connections: Starter, battery, starter relay. You can also use the old screw driver relay bypass trick too. Sometimes it's not even a relay per say but, more like a connection block where your battery, starter and key all meet to do business. You can fry that sucker when you put in a starter or battery so check it out. Check all fuses too. Do lights and other electricals work?

    Good luck.

Im having the same problem with my '70, i replaced the neutral safety switch, as it would sometimes crank when you moved the shifter, now it doesnt even do that, and recently, the interior lights dont work, and neither do the reverse lights.. what's the problem guys?

Hi, If you have a floor shifter, you may have to adjust the neutral safety switch up and down until it starts in park and neutral. Be carefull because it will start in reverse or drive when adjusting so just "bump" the ignition and don't hold the key down to long in the start position. Your back up lights are connected to the neutral safety switch and you may have a blown fuse. If the interior lights are on the same circuit, that may be why they are not working. Be sure you have good voltage from the battery! Mark
