I have a Caswell Zinc/CopyCAD 3 gallon plating kit that I ordered but have not even opened.

This is a simple, easy to set up and use kit for electroplating restoration items like brake boosters, hardware, carburetors, trim pieces etc. It is capable of bright or subdued finishes, various chromates including yellow Zinc. See the kit specs here:
    http://www.caswellplating.com/electroplating-anodizing/zinc-plating-kits.html

I have personally used the Caswell kits with good results, pic attached.

I will include with this kit a Mastech HY3010D Power supply that I used successfully with the Caswell kits. It has the +/- lead kit included with alligator clips soldered on.
    Power supply Specs here:

Bought new these would combine for about $370 and then shipping.

I would like to get $250 shipped in the US.

If you were considering a kit like this for your home shop , I highly recommend the Caswell kits because they work. This is a chance to get a complete setup for cheap.

    Located in CT.

Interested, does it have the manual + any yellow cad with it? Why are you selling it? How much if I pick it up? Thanks Ken!

Yes it comes with a Manual, which is very good in my opinion. Very informative about plating in general.

The new in box kit does not come with chromating solution - HOWEVER,

I do have the remains of my last used kit that I will include with the new in box kit if you pick up local.

This includes 3oz (of a 4oz bottle) of yellow Chromating solution concentrate, about a gallon of mixed yellow chromate solution, some spare copyCAD plates, another set of aquarium heaters, spare Zinc brightening solution (for chrome-like shine), and a few gallons of CopyCAD plating solution in plastic containers. Basically its another kit -used- but with the yellow chromate stuff.

I am getting rid of it because I have decided to outsource the carb replating that I need to have done for www.everyday-performance.com. I was sastisfied with the results I got from the kit, but from a business standpoint I have to acknowledge that I am not a professional plating expert and that it is simply easier for me to let the pros do the plating.

with all the other extras, I will keep the price at $250

Frank, another worthwhile additive is the zinc blackener. It'll turn the zinc/copyCad plating black, so it's great for general hardware use such as body and chassis bolts....MUCH more durable than the black oxide coating method.
And the blue chromate is good for a silver/slightly blue tint, perfect for the silver hardware on our Buicks.

Thanks for the info Walt! Yeah...I'm going to try some different types of plating. I'd like to plate a few alt pulleys, throttle bracket, cruise bracket, cruise vac servo (if possible) etc. If I can do black hardware, that's a plus. I can probably have that stuff done cheaper than buying the kit....maybe. But nobody here does it, I would need to send it to strangers for a long period of time. I always worry the stuff would get lost. Losing parts like those cruise brackets would be a nightmare!

Same here Ken, it's always a pleasure to meet another Buick person. Thanks for the extra chemicals, etc. When I get some time I'll try it out.
