I am cleaning my engine compartment and want to put some type of protective grease on the electrical plug where the engine bay wiring harness plugs into the firewall. I can only find a dielectric grease (100% silicone) that is advertised as "connector & spark plug boot grease". Will this work or will it short the whole thing out?

    Thanks Rick

    Rick,
As long as you don't gob it all over you will be fine. I use it on my snowplow truck all the time and never had problems with it. We have all kinds of electrical plugs for out spreaders and such that are prone to salt, and it even helps there too. I also use a bit on the sparkplug boots as well as on the coil boots. It will be fine.
