Electrical Nightmare

    Took out the skylark and made it about 200 feet from the driveway and lost all power, open the hood and see greenish smoke. Test the battery it is smoked, put a new battery in connect the positive terminal first then touched the negative and almost melted the terminal on the battery, big spark show. HELP!!!!

    1st thing I would do is check the + cable ..see if its not melted on anything like manifolds or headers.....

    Look at the cable near the starter too. Also, make sure you have a grounding strap between the engine and body.

    I agree,check the positive cable to see if it's rubbing against anything to make it short. Also,check the starter solenoid to see if that is shorted.
