elec fuel pump wiring ?

I was looking at a friends 69 camaro he was telling me the wire got hot and burned the insulation off (no fuse) he needs to rewire the pump with a new switch what size wire should you use ? not sure of the pump brand any help appreciated!

 

need to know the pump size (amp rating).

I would use a number 10 wire at least -with a fuse :Smarty:

 

I would use 10 gauage and switch it with a relay. I would also run an ohm meter on the pump to make sure it is not shorted. There should be a spec on the pump from the manufacture.
