I am putting an Autofab manual rack and pinion setup in my car. I am confident on the install up to the point of making the shaft from the rack to the steering column. Are there any tips or things I need to address? How do you make sure there is no binding? Is welding the joints the best as opposed to the set screws with wire?

I've used 3/4 dd shaft...I've welded and used set screws. All depends on what you need to go around. On the 41 Plymouth the shaft went through the headers so had to be put together after the exhaust was in and we used set screws.

The shaft on the gs race project I sold they were welded.........if you have to put a 3rd joint in you will need some form of shaft support to keep it from flopping
