If you look down at specs it's NOT a roller but a regular style non roller.

I just copied the title off the summit website. I edited my post. Do you have any input on it?

Says the rollers are bushed, feels smooth as silk, sprockets are very good looking steel

A true double roller offers less friction, will last longer, and will maintain more a accurate valve timing. That chain is not.

A guy not to far from me has 2 sets brand new in the box for sale for a good price, I just wanted to get some opinions on them before I inquire about them. I don't want to waste his time asking about them or buying one and find out that they're junk.

Not that they are junk, but I would use the best parts available even if they cost more. Ask JW what he uses. It ain’t Edelbrock, I can tell you that.

What did he put in your engine Larry? I was going to buy a set from TA, but seen the Edelbrock ones and thought I'd ask about them first.

Yeh that one would be my ultimate choice!

If its a stock application, the Edelbrock is more than fine. I put a TRW replacement chain set I got from the auto parts store in my Riviera probably 25 years ago. Its fine and its still in there.

Again, it depends on the application. There's such a thing as overkill

My build will be more than stock, I'm shooting for close to 10:1 and close to 500hp if it falls short that's ok as it's mostly a cruiser car but I still want to have ability to hit the track.

I believe they're just rollmaster timing chains.

That Edelbrock 7840 IS NOT a roller. Look at the description,

How can they call it true roller if it's not? Weird....

Also...it scares me that they say not for over 6500 rpm.....smells like China...

But the .250 dia barrels spin on the pins,....

Edelbrock does not MAKE timing sets. The bigger questions are "what supplier are they using (this week)?" and "How much extra do you want to pay for the Edelbrock-labeled box it comes in?"

If they are comfortable saying its fine for up to to 6500, it's more than likely good for 7500 or 8, same with rods and cranks you gotta rate it conservatively to cya

I try not to buy anything Edelbrock. Their no hop bars were a disaster for me. Thankfully, Sumitt took them back even after I had modified them trying to get them to fit. Went to TA no hops and they went right on.
