Is a Edelbrock 600cfm performer too big for a stock 300ci Buick motor?

This will be going on a 65 model 4 barrel manifold (cast iron).

I know about the 500cfm model, but the 600 is less expensive and seems to be available in reman units also, so if it doesn't drown the engine it would be a less expensive choice.

I have searched for a AFB, but by the time I buy a core and rebuild it, it's equal or more money than a Performer.

    Any opinions or experiences??

    Thanks

I would consider the AVS, not the AFB. Like a Q-jet, the AVS has a spring loaded adjustable air valve. The carburetor sizes itself to engine demand.
