I have an edelbrock performer, square bore, 600 cfm carb.

with this work well with a strong 455 with the poston alum intake? or should i find a good rebuilt Q-Jet?

600 CFM, forget it, way too small. The stock Q-jet was 750, and 71 and up 455 carbs were 800. Don't even think about using that 600, waste of time. And the Poston S-Divider, you'll need to do some tuning to get the best out of that manifold. Never really heard anything great about it, but I hear it likes carb spacers.

thanks larry, i'll ditch the carb w/ the 350. the engine is coming w/ the intake, so i guess i'm going to have to make it work or go w/ an edelbrock performer intake. any place to find a rebuilt Q-Jet 750 or 800 CFM?

I had a chevy 427 in my 72 chevelle and used a modified 750 holley, it ran real strong but needed more air. I put a 600 to get accross town to pull the heads for some porting. It had TONS of throttle response. from idle to 2000 RPM NO ONE COULD TOUCH ME  after that it farted every engine swear word in the book.

Go larger! 800 Quad sounds good. 750 Holley can work.

Try the Quad shop I think they sell rebuilts. T/A performance also sells them. Try a local junkyard and look for 71-74 Electras maybe you could find a cheap one but would still have to rebuild it. The Q-jet is still the best all around street/perfromance carb for our cars.
