Guy sez a pair of 70-72 NOS air cleaner foams. I look at the picture, and both are the 72 triangular. So I email him and tell him they are 72 left side ONLY. And here is what the emailed with: "Thank you. We already know that. But not everyone has the correct air cleaner in their car." ou: ou: ou: WHAT about the 70 & 71 guys that DO have the correct air cleaner and don't notice the photo......:af: :blast:
Dan He has the inside info that a number of Buicks have been converted to having two left hand 72 snorkles because in order to be prepared for a failure they installed a back up air pump on the right side on the engine.
Yeah Jim! I was thinking of ADDING that option to my 71 too. I better do it soon before all the supply of 72 air cleaners dry up.:spank:
yeah, what jim said. when i read this post, my first thought was, how many guys will have a breather with two 72 left scoops ? hmmmmm, another first. i thought i ran the numbers last night and that the book showed as 350 engine only, i better go look again. i would not have listed them that way. henry
As far as I know..... All replacement foams were for the 350's, so you have to cut them down for the 455's.:bglasses:
yes, thats all you ever see anyways. i think i heard of some nos ones for the 455 once but never seen any. cut the 350 ones is the word on the street. i still havent rechecked the part numbers of what is on ebay. henry
Henry - I just looked in my Buick parts book, and it does show the same part number for both the 350 and the 455 engine (under section 3.417), and it is the same number as the one on ebay.
hi cole my books shows the 69-71 350 dual snorkel as being 1386813 and the 69-70 4600 as 1386814 the one book shows the 72 left as 1239661 for 350 car, and 1239663 for 455. i cant remember which was on ebay. i've always heard that the only ones around are 350 car and that they just need to be cut down for the 455 cars. i dunno. thanks henry
jim i never did one, but i guess you take a razor blade to em from the side. i woould think it makes a rough cut at best. i guess you would then have to put the cut side towards the bottom. it doesnt seem like a great solution to me, but this is what i've heard. henry
I know, once I emailed someone telling them that the "69-72" Stage 1 hood emblems he had for sale were only for 70-72 cars, that the 69's were different and the response was "yeah I know but a lot of guys like to use 'em" uzzled: I don't know many 69 Stage 1 owners that like to put 70-72 Stage 1 hood emblems on their cars do you? In fact, I don't believe I've EVER seen a single one. I don't know why people false advertise like that. If he "knows", why does he sell them as "69-72"? You have to friggin cut the studs off and glue it to the hood of a 69 because the studs wouldn't line up anyway. Either that or drill new holes in your GS hood. :error:
