Carb is in shrink wrap sealed thought it was for my old Olds 1972 ‘98.

The numbers on later Service Replacement carbs can be confusing. They will have 170549XX on them. A little research or looking at them can usually determine what they are replacing.

The 17054937 replaces 1972 Olds (going for memory here) but could be used on most 1970-74 Olds engines, even the higher output versions but may need some minor tuning going that direction.

I'm not a big fan of the Olds carbs thru 1974, Caddy either as they continued to use the poorly located hinge pin and large float. They lack the fuel control of the later designs with the revised hinge pin location and smaller floats. They can still work well on pretty high HP engines with enough determination, but here I pass right on by them unless the application just has to use one for some numbers matching reasons, etc....

Bought it for a ‘72 Olds 98 which I no longer have.
