Ive been talking with The PartsPlace about some color match for my interior. He asked me to check my plate thats under the hood it is beat up and faded but im pretty sure it says 194 And he says this is not correct
On some sites it shows 194 as a code for 68 special deluxe and on some sites it does not would anyone know what my interior color is When i bought the car the owner told me it is pearl white And if 194 is the correct code for 1968 gs california special (post car) ? Thanks for any help:Dou:

Parchment = 194 for this car.

But this of little importance. It is unlikely that any stock spray dye will be identical because your seats are not the same color today as they were when new. Sometimes you just have go to a store than sells SEM dye and get two or three different shades to blend.

But it is just an off white color. With white interiors you often have to improvise. Go to a local SEM dealer with you pillars and buy one can darker and one whiter.

Try a can of SEM Super White....despite the name, it's a slightly off-white color.

Often there is no exact match. Look at this chart for SEM. I just bracket the color I need with the closest ones. Then I spray the closest color and let it sit until it is almost dry. Then I use the other color to bring it closer to the shade I need.

    Jim,
I was just looking around on the site of a SEM dealer here in The Netherlands. Since spray cans (and paint) are near to impossible to ship from the US I will have to buy those products here. And at $35 per (12 oz.) can I was hoping for a good result with SEM 15103.
If not, I sure will follow your advize
    Thanks

If you can find a local dealer that has a paper chart I would drive over and compare the paper chart to what I need. This eliminates the computer monitor variability from true color.

If you are painting the interior pillars and it is a hardtop and they are steel why do you need dye? They were painted with interior lacquer from the factory not dye. You can stiil get this paint. Tower Paints will mix the exact color for you in spray cans. This paint works on plastic also.

Are they exterior or interior? I thought interior pillars on hartops were metal? I know they are soft material on converts.

I honestly do not know much about 68's but 70-72 hardtops and probably 69 had steel pillars.

I think the vinyl A-pillar mouldings are probably correct for your car. At least on Oldsmobile Cutlass's (hardtops) for '69, I am about 100% sure they are vinyl so it follows that '68s and likely the Buicks are the same.

SEM Super White is almost spot on..

Although the dyed one on the leftt looks much more white in the photo (right one isn't cleaned there) in daylight it matches the orinal color
