My dwell meter has one green lead coming from the meter, and I connect it to the (-) side of the coil. I also hook up the power leads to the battery. It works perfectly.

My dwell meter has instructions but it doesn't tell me what numbers I need. What should the numbers be for a 72 455?

And that should be 30 with the car running warm at idle, right?
Right now mine is running 40 to 45.

    Dwell

Dwell is the number of degrees out of 360 that your points are closed. It is an inverse reading so the higher the number the closer the point gap. As the block that rides on the distributor cam wears the number goes up. So your points are set too close. You gotta be getting old to remember that sort of crap! :Dou:

You gotta be REALLY old to have known it but can't remember! That's why I went to an HEI...kept forgetting how to do it. :Do No:
